A room of my own

The new year has begun with bitterly cold and windy weather here on Magnolia Street. Yesterday's high was 30 and today the high is expected to reach 25 with a wind advisory until tonight. Wind gusts are expected around 50 mph today. Talk about wind chill. We can't even light a fire, it's too windy and smoke comes into the house. Who wants to go out in this weather? Not I. So I put away all of my Christmas decorations and set up "my room" for nesting for the rest of the winter.

This is the room where I can sit and read, watch TV, work on the computer, until the days are once again long and warm. My little den, where I am surrounded by my books and special finds.

Originally, this room was an outside porch. At some point someone enclosed the porch, using knotty pine paneling, which I love. It's a teeny tiny room, but big enough for me.

I love how you have to step down into the room.

And the window that looks into the living room.

I have found that it is very important for me to have a space just for me. Where I can find solitude. It seems that I am not alone.

I found a wonderful book called A Room of Her Own, Women's Personal Spaces by Chris Casson Madden. This is the perfect book to curl up with on the couch... in your slippers... with a hot cup of something or a glass of red or white.

How about you...do you have a room of your own?

Love your room! It promotes oslitude and a place to get your thoughts together!

I may have to look into that book...so often I'd rather crawl up with the book and a glass of wine than be at a noisy party, wouldn't you??

Oh what a lovely little space for some "you" time! I long for a room of my own someday, but for now I have a cozy little spot just off the kitchen...which has it's advantages ;)

Hugs,
Dena

I love your room. I love the old photo of what it once was and I love the milk glass. I don't think we have that in UK. One website said it could raise good money! Love your pussycat too!!!
