I should be painting

I know, I know, I had big plans of painting. I haven't been back to my son's room to paint the ceiling yet. I got as far as scraping the ceiling. Then I thought since I was painting windows, the bathroom window could use a sprucing up. So I painted that instead. Then hubby decided that he was going to give the concrete basement floor a fresh coat of paint. So he did that. I had to make myself available for moral support. And it is so darn cold here, that I'm useless after the fire is lit and I park my *&^ on the sofa watching American Idol.

But look what I found this week. Beautiful things to put other things in. You can never have enough storage...of all sizes. I know the locket is a pill case, but I can't figure out what the other box is for.

It's tin. It's got a hinged lid.

With a very unique clasp. I couldn't wait to get it opened.

Even the bottom has a design.

When I finally did get it opened, I found that it is rusted on both top and bottom. I wonder what is was meant to hold. It is from a bygone era. I was thinking maybe incense. Any other suggestions?

The window looking in

Vickie from Sand Flat Farm and Barbara from Oodles and Oodles shared with me that they too have scary rooms within their house. In my last post I didn't want to be too graphic, I didn't think anyone could relate. But it looks like I'm not the only one who has sons that are slobs. This room was definately a candidate for Clean Sweep. I had appointments after work today so no painting tonight.

We can pretend that this is the same window with a view looking in. This is actually outside the dining room but all the windows look the same.

I'll be back at it tomorrow night.

Projects Coordinator

Can I meet my project deadline? I'm trying...believe me. I have 2 1/2 weeks before hubby has his surgery. There will be little time for much other than care giving for the first 2 weeks. I can't take time off of work, fortunately I live close to where I work, so I will come home on my lunch breaks to tend to his needs.

Painting project #1. Paint my son's room. It all started with 3 hours of cleaning, straightening, and picking up trash. Yes, trash in his room. The windows were scraped, washed clean, painted, and windexed.

Looking out of a clean window makes the world look so much better.

Onto project #2...the ceiling.

a formal expression of opinion or intention made

I'm looking forward to the new year. The Christmas decorations are packed up and put away, the house is taking a deep breath and a big stretch with all of the extra room. The holidays were quite busy, it' seems like it was weeks ago.

I don't dare make any resolutions...other than I publicly announce that I will learn to have more patience and not get so stressed over things I have no control of. You heard it here first folks. Now of course, everything in life is relative, enough said about that.

My blogging break was much needed. Thank you to those who visited and left a comment, I really appreciated your kind words. I've been "lurking" around and I'm going to take the next two weeks to get back in touch with everyone before I take another break beginning the end of the month. I have a deadline...to get all household projects completed...before my husband receives his new knee. We went through this 3 years ago with his other knee, so I know what to expect.

So while I have some time for myself, I gathered some books for my reading material for this month.

I left the candles in the windows...for ambiance.

It is so nice to be able to redecorate and edit even more.

Blue and white replaces red, green, silver and gold.

I'll talk to you soon.
