Only 4 days to go...

It is 4 days until the AGIS Country Christmas sale. I am not ready. I am nowhere near ready. I am beginning to feel the time ticking away. Everything had to be last minute anyway. That is what I keep telling myself. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner, so I couldn't bring this mess down to the dining room until the china was washed and put away on Friday. Then on Saturday, I gathered Christmas decorations and things to sell from the attic and basement and tried to decorate, price, and clean before I had a few friends over on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. I am now at the age that I can get away with throwing myself a birthday party. I had to rest on Sunday because I am now at the age that I need to rest after my birthday party. Monday I went back to work and here it is Tuesday evening and I just got back to pricing.
I failed to tell you that I also make and sell pizzelles around the holidays.

The AGIS Country Christmas sale is this Saturday, and after I get home from my niece's wedding on Friday night I will try to rest before the sale, but I doubt it. I will check my to do list one last time and hope that I wake up in time to meet Dona to set up for the sale. Well, wish us luck. If I'm not too frazzled, I will take pictures of the sale to share with you.

A white Christmas...sort of

I had to wait for the chimney sweep this morning and I didn't get to go out yardsaling. But that doesn't mean that I didn't find some new treasures. Where I work, there is a monthly sale of donated unwanted items. This was held on Friday. The sale starts at 11:00 conveniently at my lunch break. I found a few things, among them was some more milk glass. When I get fixated on one item, it seems that everywhere I go, I find more and more. I was going to sell all of the milk glass that I already had at the AGIS sale this year, so why do I continue to buy more? I picked up this last week...I'm not sure if it is a large compote or a small punch bowl.
I had this punch bowl and 12 cups...
and the Fenton Hobnail cake plate...
and these glasses, and compotes, there are 3 vases and another compote hidden behind...

but I still picked up these...

and this...
to go with the jam and jelly jars...(they must be rare)
and the Fenton hobnail compote.

I didn't take a picture of my china closet that is already packed with too much. I found a great website for milkglass fans. The prices of Fenton Hobnail was quite a surprise to me. Even on Ebay the prices are holding their own and there is alot of bid activity. It seems that others like milk glass as much as I do. I will try to sell what I have, but I will still keep my eye out for more. It just comes down to I buy what I like.

Give Thanks

Families across the nation will be getting ready for a bountiful dinner next week. For those that are less fortunate, do what you can to make their season of Thanksgiving special.

I know that I am truely blessed.

A Vintage Christmas

It was cold on Saturday when Dona and I went out. It must have been in the upper 30s and just about everything that I found was a real treasure hunt that was found by digging through box after box in the garage and driveway of an unadvertised estate sale. There was so much to look through it took about an hour to find what I did. We would have stayed longer, but we had to go to the bathroom and it was so cold.

I don't have too much to say this week. I caught a cold from Saturday and I don't the energy that I usually do. So this entry is short and sweet.
Is it too early to decorate for Christmas? I picked up these vintage Christmas balls on Saturday and put them in a bowl. There's no sense putting them away now, just to take them out in a couple of weeks. I will share all of my vintage Christmas decorations with you soon.

Getting closer

I made one step closer to making my dream of turning my passion into a business. About a month ago I opened my business checking account and I put a little bit each week into this account. I am launching my full fledged business in 2008 and every business needs a checking account. I just designed my business cards from free businesscards.com. Of course they did not end of being free but far less than what a printer would charge. I didn't want to choose one of the templetes that they had, because I couldn't find one that accurately espressed me and my creativity. After I designed the card and clicked the button to accept the design that I made, I had this feeling that something wasn't right. You know for 4 days I checked the website and kept looking at the draft and couldn't see anything wrong. THEN, it finally came to me...I put a "@" instead of a "." in my blog address. So being frugal as I am, I am not going to throw them away. I am filling in the "@" with a magic marker to make a big dot and I will use these cards as my price tags for the next sale at AGIS.
This is the picture that I took of my ironstone that was my inspiration. This one picture sums up what Magnolia Street Style is all about. The platter on the wall is from Italy. Three of the pitchers are marked ironstone and they are sitting on an antique red painted cupboard. I love putting beautiful things together no matter what period they are from. I think it works, I hope others will too.
This is one small step... many more steps to go...but lovin it all the way.

My Home Office

I finally carved out a corner of our den for my office. Yes, it is only a table and chairs, but it is my space. Our house is very small and what was originally a side porch, was closed in years ago with knotty pine paneling to make an extra room. I have wanted to make this room my own ever since we bought the house. It only took me 10 years. I've had the glass top table for a few years. It was in horrible shape when I bought it. I scraped, painted it black, got new seats cut and reupholstered. I have brought it to a few sales, everyone loves it but no one bought it. Rather than store it, I decided to use it.

Autumn is here, winter can't be far behind

It was a wonderful weekend. The weather was crisp but not too cold, the grass is still green and the leaves on the trees are bright with their rainbow of colors... and there are still yardsales. Each yardsale is to be cherished at this time of year.

I found these cups and trays at the same sale, I will be bringing them to the AGIS sale.

They were originally used for tea and sandwiches, but how about dip and crackers, veggies, or fruit for today's type of entertaining?
I found all of this silver at another yardsale. I originally only wanted the candle sticks. But I got a great price on the whole lot so I took everything.
What I thought was another coffee pot is actually what looks like an art deco tea pot with creamer and sugar bowl. I am not a coffee drinker, but a tea drinker, so I was thrilled. I haven't had a chance to do any research on it yet, and it doesn't matter if it isn't worth a lot of money. I think it is soo adorable. The tea service will not be for sale.
